Starting a business is no small achievement. Starting a vegan business is even tougher. However, some people’s light shines so bright everyone seems to take notice. Please join us in congratulating fellow Vegan Wedding Guide member James Bloodsaw of JustVeggiez on winning the 2023 SBA Wisconsin Emerging Small Business of the Year!
Humble beginnings to health food guru
Like a lot of teenagers, James got his first job in the restaurant industry at a pizza shop. He fell in love with food, the way it brings people together and unites communities. His talent in the kitchen propelled him to the position of executive chef for a catering company where he delighted guests with his culinary creations. Fast forward to a conversation in 2011 with his late father about his health issues. That conversation changed the course of his life as he began to incorporate healthier dishes into his menu.
As with so many of us, James’ quest for a healthy lifestyle led him to veganism. In 2018 he founded JustVeggiez, blending his culinary talent with 30 years of restaurant and catering experience. JustVeggiez is 100% vegan and specializes in popups and catering. And JustVeggiez is not just James- his whole family is involved in the business! That single conversation with his father led to a legacy of compassion. We cannot be more proud to have JustVeggiez and the Bloodsaw family as part of the Vegan Wedding Guide!
About National Small Business Week
For 60 years, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week. It’s a way of recognizing the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business. In fact, small businesses create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Every day, they’re working to grow small businesses, create 21st century jobs, drive innovation, and increase America’s global competitiveness. And in recognizing the changing face of America, the SBA’s National Small Business Week awards honor individuals and businesses that reflect our nation’s rich diversity.
